A12 MITIGATION MEASURES IN BRENTWOOD, ESSEX
Dear Mr Norman As residents of [address], we write to express our disappointment on hearing that, despite Brentwood being identified as a Priority One Location for noise mitigation measures in May 2008, there are no plans to introduce these until 2015/16. It is unacceptable that local residents will have to put up with the noise for 7-8 years when the area has clearly been identified as needing such measures. A survey conducted in August 2010 in this area, completed by 67 households, and presented to you by our Lib Dem councillors in October 2010 showed that:
Residents also noted effects such as being unable to leave windows open, having trouble sleeping, a constant hum, constantly having to shout, concern about children/grandchildren and worsening asthma/eczema. The issue of a noise increase when the road level was raised 6-7 years ago was requested, but never provided. In addition, a petition with 94 signatures asked you for urgent action. [add in personal experiences here] Despite this, it will be another 3-4 years before the Highways Agency will introduce measures to reduce the noise. We ask the Highways Agency to take urgent action and implement noise reduction measures by the end of 2013. I look forward to hearing from you. [name] |
